NRIBM's “Excellence in Management Award”

Gujarat Law Society organized the presentation ceremony of N R Institute of Business Management's "Excellence in Management Award - 2006" on 31st January 2007.
Shri Narendra Modi, Hon'ble Chief Minister, Gujarat State presented the silver trophy and certificate to Shri Gautam S. Adani, Chairman, Adani Group in recognition of his exceptional contribution in the field of business management and his distinguished leadership in the august presence of Shri Anilbhai Patel, Hon'ble Minister for Industries and Tourism, Gujarat State as guest of honour and Dr. Parimal Trivedi, Vice Chancellor, Gujarat University.
The glittering function was attended by over a thousand invitees from various corporate houses and academic institutions from all over Gujarat as well as faculty, staff and students of Gujarat Law Society.
The "Excellence in Management Award" initiated by Gujarat Law Society and N. R. Institute of Business Management - GLS MBA is the first of its kind by any management institute affiliated to Gujarat University.

Third AIMS International Conference on Management

NRIBM was the privileged co-sponsor of the Third AIMS International Conference on Management organized from January 1st to 4th, 2006. This conference was organized at the new IIM Ahmedabad campus under the able leadership of Prof Omprakash Gupta, Prof Bakul Dholakia and Prof Maheshwari.
Tremendous intellectual interaction took place among the 200 plus learned participants from around the globe from countries including India, USA, UK, South Africa, Pakistan, Iran, Canada, etc. The inaugural address was delivered by the renowned economist Shri Y K Alagh and was followed by four days of paper presentations and other activities related to the theme of management education.
NRIBM actively participated in the conference by sponsoring five faculty members and two final year students. The institute director Dr Hitesh Ruparel had the honor of chairing a technical session on the first day of the conference.

Corporate Congregation, Alumni Meet and Annual Day

N R Institute of Business Management (GLS-MBA) organized its Corporate Congregation and Alumni Meet alongwith a musical concert by ghazal maestro Shri Jagjit Singh on 24th February 2008 at the Karnavati Club Lawns. The intention was to provide a platform for interaction to members of the corporate fraternity, alumni and students of N R Institute of Business Management. The event was a huge success with more than 10,000 invited guests including professionals, industrialists and eminent academicians.

MICAMP - The Entrepreneurship Workshop

N. R. Institute of Business Management hosted MICAMP, a workshop on Entrepreneurship conducted by Mudra Institute of Communication, Ahmedabad.
The aim of this workshop was to help participants understand the opportunities in corporate and business entrepreneurship and encourage them to develop entrepreneurship as a capability. The speakers for the workshop included Prof. Atul Tandan, Director, MICA, Dr. Gautam Raj Jain, Senior Professor in Organizational Behaviour and faculty-in-charge of the Entrepreneurship Development Centre at MICA, Mr. Jay Ruparel, Executive Director and COO, Azure Technologies Pvt. Ltd. and Mr. Kamal Bansal, Regional Head, Bonanza Group.
The various subjects discussed during the workshop were Growth and Opportunities in Advertising, Media, PR, MR and other communication related areas, Entrepreneurial Behaviour and competence, Generation and Analysis of Business Plan, Sources of Financial Assistance, among others.
The workshop was attended by over 200 students. It received wide appreciation for enabling all the participants to develop a better understanding of entrepreneurship.

The eXpert Opinion Series

XO (eXpert Opinion) is a series of annual seminars conducted by NRIBM beginning in 2002 with a view to providing pragmatic wisdom to the students of NRIBM who are on the threshold of their professional careers. It is an event, where torch bearers of major industrial sectors and eminent business personalities share their views about the macro and micro integrities of the industry. XO 2008 focused on three sectors of the economy Financial services, Non-financial services and Engineering & Manufacturing. The distinguished speakers who shared their valuable insights included Mr. Neeraj Raghuvanshi, Regional Manager, Gujarat, Radio City, Mr. Dharmendra Mishra, General Manager (Marketing & Operations), Divya Bhaskar, Mr. Satish Dandekar, Director, Sales & B u s i n e s s De v e l o pme n t , Bombardier Transportation India Ltd., Mr. I.S. Rao, General Manager, ABM Steel Pvt Ltd., Mr. V K Sharma, Whole-time Director, Head of Research, Anagram Securities Ltd. and Mr. Rajesh Ramakrishnan, Managing Partner, Max New York Life Insurance Ltd.

Workshop on Communication and Soft Skills

help develop the soft skills of its students. A series of lectures by Ms Archana Bhatt from Adani Knowledge Centre, was conducted to emphasize the importance of communication skills among students.
In addition, A 2-day workshop was organized on etiquette, grooming and body language. Dr Rajika Kacheria, well-known aesthetician and personality development expert explained the intricacies of positive body language and also enlightened the students on proper grooming and etiquette for the corporate world.

Workshop on Interpersonal Communication and Team Building

Most of the inter-personal problems at the workplace are created due to faulty inter-personal communication. To make our students aware of the importance of effective inter-personal communication and learn how to improve it, NRIBM organized a a one-day workshop on interpersonal communication and team building. Dr.Nimrat Singh, who has extensive experience in HR and counseling activities and who is the founder of Tangram, conducted this workshop. Through a meaningful film screening and innovative group exercises, students were made to understand the dynamics of effective communication with their peers and in teams.

Research @ NRIBM

This is NRIBM's attempt at developing innovations in management practices and leveraging the expertise of corporate partners. Five research cells have been set up in the areas of:
  • Financial Services
  • Non-Financial Services
  • IT, Technology and BPO
  • Engineering and Manufacturing
  • Pharma, FMCG, Media and Advertising
These cells actively interact with companies in relevant sectors and undertake live research projects, organize guest talks and take up joint research projects. The activities of these research cells have provided an impetus to the academic extension activities at the institute.

Research Papers by Students and Faculty

The students and faculty members of the institute are actively involved in writing research papers on various contemporary issues in state and national level journals. Over the period of the last one year, the students and faculty members have published more than 24 research papers.

Executive/Management Development Programs

NRIBM has undertaken Executive Development Programs for dealers and sales executives of Gujarat Ambuja Cement Ltd., Jyoti Sangh and others. Similar MDPs in the areas of Corporate Finance, Strategic Management and E-business Management are underway.

Rewarding Merit

In order to further the mission of excellence in education, NRIBM awards gold medals to students for academic achievements. The Gujarat Law Society has instituted the Indravadan M Nanavati Memorial Gold Medal for Best Performance in Marketing Management and the Navnitlal Ranchhodlal Memorial Gold Medal for Best Performance in Financial Management.
