Workshop on Medical & Fitness Issues and Extempore Competition by WDC (8th March, 2016)

N. R. Institute of Business Management (GLS MBA & NRPGDM) and GLS Institute of Computer Technology (GLSICT-MBA) had organized a workshop on Medical & Fitness Issues under the Women Development Cell with the zeal of celebrating International Women’s Day on 8th March, 2016. More than 60 students had attended this workshop. The Workshop was followed by the Extempore Competition.
The first session of the workshop focused on resolving medical and gynaec issues. It was conducted by Dr. Darshana Thakker, Ob. Gynaec and Director of Sarjan Health Care. She talked about various issues concerning women health.
The second session of the workshop focused on Nutrition aspects for women. It was conducted by Ms Namrata Sheth, Nutritionist. She talked about importance of balanced diet and its health benefits.
The Workshop was followed by extempore competition. In this competition the students were given various on the spot topics on womanhood like: Mother, Women driving, Women and education, etc. The students participated with great zeal & enthusiasm.
Talentino – 2016 (22nd March, 2016)

With the objective of providing a platform to explore the latent talent of the students, every year institute organizes "Talentino", the annual cultural festival. These activities exist to complement the academic curriculum and to enhance the student's educational experience as Education cannot happen just in classroom—it must go beyond the walls of the classroom.
Over the years, Talentino has emerged as most effective extracurricular platform to enhance management and organization skills of students in a pleasant way. Institute has found some of extraordinary talents during the Talentino who stands out among the group.
This year Talentino was organised on 22nd March, 2016 at Tagore Hall. More than 100 participants showcased their performances. The event was judged by Dhwani Gautam, Gujarati Film Director; Heena Achra, Model & Janki Bodiwala, Gujarati Film Actress.
Daan Utsav – Pradaan (2nd October to 8th October, 2015)

Humanity Restored..! GLS MBA programme understanding the social obligation towards the society, conducts the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activity of Daan Utsav every year, where they provide the old clothes, toys, newspapers, stationery, etc to the underprivileged and the needy. So far the collections are distributed among various NGOs like “Gunj”, which is a Delhi based NGO, “Charity Shop” located at Vastrapur, Ahmedabad, backed by the Blind Man Association, “Utthan”, a vocational training school for differently abled kids and other NGOs.
Industrial Visits
The institute believes in providing excellent professional education in business & management, developing students by giving them practical exposure through industrial visits. The students were taken to Adani Port, High Court of Gujarat, Equities and Commodities Research Consulting and Broking Firm, Rubberking Tyres Pvt Ltd and Havmor Icecream Ltd. It was a great learning experience for students for subjects like International Business, Business Law, Investment Management, Quantitative Techniques and Production & Operations Management.
Workshop on Breast Cancer Awareness and Umbilical Cord Preservation by WDC (29th September, 2015)

GLS’ Women Development Cell organizes various activities for the students. This year, GLS University’s Faculty of Management (NRIBM, NR-PGDM, GLSICT-MBA and School of Management) had organized a workshop on Breast Cancer Awareness and Umbilical Cord Preservation under the Women Development Cell where in more than 60 students had attended this workshop.
The first session of the workshop was on Breast Cancer Awareness. It was conducted by Dr. Bhavna Parikh, Consultant, Oncologist and Breast Cancer Surgeon. She is associated with Shubham Hospital, Ahmedabad. She talked about various causes and preventive steps of Breast Cancer. She also taught the self-assessment ways for the same.
The second session of the workshop was on Umbilical Cord Preservation. It was conducted by Dr. Phagun Shah who is a Gynaecologist and IVF Consultant. He is associated with Zeal Maternity & Nursing Home, Ahmedabad. He highlighted the importance of Umbilical Cord Preservation and also narrated the Pros and Cons of the same.
Both the sessions raised the alarming issues for the students. Students being into the age group of 18 to 25 years, they could easily associate themselves with the topic and hence, got various insights on the discussed issues. All the students who had attended the workshop were given the certificate of participation.
